Fundraising Challenge

On Friday 19th April 2024

A group of 4 Air Traffic Controllers riding motorcycles from National Air Traffic Services (NATS) undertook a fundraising challenge to ride to all 24 NATS/NATS Solutions Units in 24 days, ranging from Aberdeen to Gibraltar. This event was in honour, of a colleague who had passed away and was aimed at raising funds for charity and raising awareness for Prostate Cancer and Aerobility.

St Athan Aerodrome welcomed the group and provided them with the opportunity to ride along our 1828m runway and to receive a Water Salute from our Cardiff Wales Airport Fire Service. They eagerly took us up on the offer!

Unbeknown to three of the riders, we had liaised and organized with National Police Air Service (NPAS) to follow the group along the runway, resulting in the fabulous photo above and the absolute astonishment of the riders!

Well done everyone!

800 mile epic cycle ride

Sunday 10th September 2023

National Police Air Service (NPAS)  completed an 800-mile epic cycle ride in aid of fundraising to fund Cancer Treatment for a fellow colleague to be undertaken abroad.

The final mile of their fundraising journey was completed on our runway, with 3 cyclists, 1 support vehicle, 1 Police vehicle and the Police Helicopter following in a spectacular convoy.

The group received a Water Salute from our Cardiff Wales Airport Fire Service which was greatly received.
